Design and execution project of a seat for the Catedra Blanca of the ETSAM.
Exhibition at the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid 22/07/2024-28/10/2024.
This piece is intended to serve as a collective bench. It is a longitudinal piece that seeks to be more than part of the street furniture, a sculptural object with which to create landscape.
The undulating, free and creative form of this element that is integrated into the place allows a play of heights able to accommodate different positions and simultaneous modes of one.
The modular system with which to create a plot is based on the union of different pieces along an axis.
The resulting elongated figure also allows them to be placed in rows one behind the other with a certain offset, giving rise to a dynamic composition that conceives a scene.

The formwork is made up of a cavity made of 20 mm plywood boards screwed together and an interior covered with 50 mm polystyrene plates fixed with glue, screws and wooden sticks.
By locking the polystyrene sheets one layer to the other, the silhouette of the figure is cut out with the milling machine. In this way, extruding the silhouette by placing different layers of polystyrene vertically, the total volume to be filled with concrete is obtained.
Due to the overhangs at the ends of the piece, it is necessary to place a reinforcement formed by 8 bars of 6 in the longitudinal direction and 15 in the transversal direction. The bending of the steel bars will be done using as a template the silhouette of the figure. They will be joined to each other by welding.
A black concrete cylinder appears as a counterweight, since the slenderness of the piece does not offer enough mass and weight to resist the moments of the cantilevers, which can cause the lifting of the opposite end where the force is exerted.
